Article 11 of “the Communique on the Procedures and Principles on the Fees Which May Charged to Commercial Customers by Banks” is amended on March 11, 2020. Thus, commercial customers have become entitled to offer to make early payment for a part of their credit debts, however, banks do not have to accept such early payment offers which is equivalent to only a part of the total debt owed to the bank. On the other hand, banks are liable to accept early payment offers corresponding to the total amount of the credit debt. In respect of the recent Amendments, “for the credit debts in Turkish Lira” the fees due to early payment made by the commercial customers shall be charged limited to 1% of the early payment amount for credits whose maturity does not exceed 24 months; and 2% of the early payment amount for credits whose maturity exceeds 24 months. However, for credit debts in foreign currency or foreign currency indexed credit debts, the prior indicated percentages regarding the fees due to early payments shall be applicable with an additional one-point increment.
